Have your say on the new Remote Jobs and Economic Development Program

The Australian Government is investing $707 million to deliver the Remote Jobs and Economic Development (RJED) program. The program is developed in partnership with First Nations people to support people in remote communities to move into paid employment by funding real jobs that communities want. Your feedback is important to help inform the design and implementation of the RJED program.

The Albanese Government has set up a First Nations Reference Group to work in partnership with the government to design and implement the Remote Jobs and Economic Development program. 
 
The Remote Jobs and Economic Development program announced last month, will create 3,000 jobs in remote Australia, to help close the gap in employment outcomes and boost economic opportunities.

The Productivity Commission’s latest data on Closing the Gap shows some progress.
 
The Productivity Commission has released new data on 8 of the Closing the Gap targets and nine supporting indicators. 
 
Overall, 5 out of 19 targets are now on track, an improvement from 4 out of 19.
 
Encouragingly, the proportion of First Nations babies born at a healthy weight has improved and is on track to meet the target of 91 per cent by 2031.

The Government has announced a new Remote Jobs and Economic Development Program (RJED) that will create 3,000 jobs in remote communities. The program will start in the second half of 2024, funding 3000 jobs over three years with proper wages and conditions – as part of replacing the Community Development Program (CDP).

The Albanese Labor Government has announced an enduring resolution for people impacted by the collapse of the insurance provider Youpla Group.

The Youpla Support Program will begin on 1 July 2024, and is expected to help more than 13,000 people recover from financial loss and provide certainty to families.

This initiative meets the Government’s commitment to address the failure of the previous Coalition Government.

The new program will be for people who held an active policy on or after 1 August 2015.

On 8 February 2024, the Australian Government announced the Youpla Support Program, an enduring resolution for people impacted by the collapse of the insurance provider, the Youpla Group.

The Youpla Support Program is expected to help more than 13,000 former policy holders recover from the financial loss experienced after the collapse.

The Program will provide a resolution payment through a funeral bond regulated by the Government, or a cash payment.
