Grants for Remote Community Laundries Project
Remote First Nations communities will soon have easier access to laundry facilities thanks to a new $11.4 million Australian Government initiative.
The Remote Community Laundries Project will fund up to 12 new or upgraded, mobile or fixed laundries in eligible locations across the Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.
This funding will improve community access to commercial-grade machines with clean hot water and medicative detergents helping to reduce irritants and infections that can lead to serious but preventable illnesses like:
- trachoma
- acute rheumatic fever
- rheumatic heart disease.
Successful providers will partner with communities to ensure laundries:
- address health outcome needs
- are fit-for-purpose
- reflect community priorities.
This project will also support local jobs and provide opportunities for upskilling and educational pathways.
This project contributes to Closing the Gap health outcomes 1 and 2 and economic outcomes 7 and 8.
Eligible organisations are invited to apply at GrantConnect.
Applications are open now and close 2pm AEDST, 13 February 2026.
