Applications are now open for the new Indigenous Protected Areas (IPA) program.

The Australian Government recently announced it will invest more than $12 million to establish new IPAs across the country.

Indigenous Protected Areas support First Australians to work on land and sea country, connecting with country and culture while improving environmental conservation and promoting Indigenous employment.

IPAs form a vital part of the National Reserve System, comprising 44 per cent of the network of formally-recognised parks, reserves and protected areas across Australia.

Each Indigenous Protected Area project starts with a consultation stage involving Indigenous-led discussion and planning process amongst Traditional Owners.

For grant guidelines and more information on how to apply, go to  Current Grant Opportunity View - GO2329

Applications close 2pm Canberra time (AEST) 30 April 2019.
