2018 NAIDOC Grant Funding Round Closed

Is your community holding a NAIDOC Week celebration? Local grants are now closed to support events and activities that celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.

The Australian Government has committed $1.4 million in funding for NAIDOC activities to be held during NAIDOC Week from the 8-15 July.

Ideas for activities and events include:

  • arts and cultural based
  • family fun days
  • elders’ activities
  • bush tucker and other community cooking
  • NAIDOC themed sporting activities or competitions
  • promoting reconciliation
  • flag raising ceremonies
  • promoting health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The 2018 NAIDOC theme ‘Because of her, we can!’ celebrates the contribution Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have made and continue to make to our nation. Applicants are encouraged to incorporate the theme in their proposal.

NAIDOC Week provides an opportunity for all Australians to celebrate Indigenous culture and the unique contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia. In 2017, over 550 organisations received Australian Government grants to support NAIDOC Week activities.

Applications closed 3 April 2018 at 5pm (AEST).
