The National Disability Awards recognise outstanding achievements and contributions from people with disability or people, groups and businesses who are making a difference to the lives of people with disability.

Award nominations are open so be quick and nominate someone you know now!

Nominations close 5pm AEST, Friday 20 July 2012

Previous finalists and winners have included a paralympian, an engineer, a small business, a supermarket chain and a teacher.

All finalists for this year’s award will be invited to a gala dinner held in Canberra in November where winners will be announced

This year is the 20th anniversary of International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD), a day sanctioned by the United Nations, that aims to promote an understanding of people with disability and encourage support for their dignity, rights and well-being.

The day seeks to increase awareness of the benefits of the integration of people with disability in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

IDPwD brings together individuals, businesses, community organisations, and governments from every corner of the world to celebrate and acknowledge the contributions, skills and achievements of people with disability.
