A 3on3 basketball, art, hip hop, rapping and break dancing festival – the Stronger Futures Alice 3on3 – will be held in Alice Springs on Wednesday 19 June.

The Stronger Futures Alice 3on3 is an opportunity for local students to get together and participate in fun activities that help to promote youth leadership and the importance of going to school to get a good education that can lead to a rewarding job in the future.

The event will include a specific focus on programs relevant to young people that are being delivered under the Australian Government’s $3.4 billion Stronger Futures in the Northern Territory package.

Young people at the Stronger Futures Alice 3on3 will have the opportunity to work with artist and comedian Kevin Kropinyeri to create artwork which they can submit to a Stronger Futures poster competition.

“Judging of artworks will take place at the event and the winning artwork will be used as the basis for a Stronger Futures poster that will be distributed at the upcoming Alice Springs Show,” event producer Gavin Jones said.

“Our young people are our future and the Stronger Futures Alice 3on3 is an opportunity for them to stand up and be proud of our culture, who they are and the dreams they have.”

Hosted by actor Luke Carroll, other role models who will appear at the event include hip hop artist MC Bryte, singer and Yamba the Honey Ant host Jacinta Price, marathon runner Charlie Maher and DJ Jimblah.

Along with inspiring role models, the 3on3 festival will also include a Stronger Futures expo that will bring together local service providers to help young people and parents find out about the types of youth, education, employment, training and health services available to them.
