Newslines Radio’s popular 2010 presenter Nathan Ramsay will be back on the airwaves in February this year.

Larrakia and Nymal current affairs presenter and actor Nathan Ramsay says he’s excited about returning to Newslines Radio.

“It’s great to be back with a national radio show that helps Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people stay informed about important issues and find out about other Indigenous communities,” he says.

Ramsay, who was born in Darwin, has worked in film, radio, television and theatre for the past 15 years.

One of the first Indigenous men to enter the National Institute of Dramatic Art – NIDA - he established a public profile early in his career on SBS’s Indigenous cultural affairs program ICAM, the forerunner of Living Black.

Ramsay’s broadcasting skills were honed presenting news and current affairs for SBS and Imparja television, but he also loves getting out in the community to host Indigenous and educational events.

“The current affairs stories I enjoy most are about people achieving their own vision by taking up traineeships, working with their families or starting small businesses,” he says. “These are just some of the stories Newslines Radio covers so well.”

Ramsay believes hearing people talk about making a difference in their communities strengthens cultures and inspires others to have a go.

“But it’s not just the serious issues,” he says. “Newslines Radio has stories about sport, theatre, art and history as well as really important national conversations like constitutional recognition.”

The 2012 season of Newslines Radio, hosted by Ramsay, starts in the week beginning 30 January, with the first of two programs about running a small business.
