Shared Responsibility Agreement
The Mulan community want to build on a previous SRA to make sure their children and young people have healthy after-school activities to attend.
This SRA will upgrade and extend an indoor basketball court/sports facility. It will be a participatory project engaging community members in design, construction, decoration/artwork, management, use of venue, program development and maintenance.
The community is arranging the repairs, upgrades and extensions using CDEP workers. The Garnduwa Sports Association will develop a training and management schedule for the community, including a structured sporting competition, both within the community and with the neighbouring communities of Balgo and Billiluna. CDEP workers will get on-the-job training to develop their skills to assist in maintaining the facility as well as for broader community benefit.
Young people will use the indoor facility for both casual and organised sports. Parents will encourage their children to use the facility, as a safe place to play with high community visibility.
The Australian Government is contributing funds to the renovations, and the Place Management Team supporting the East Kimberley COAG trial will visit Mulan regularly to monitor progress with the upgrade and activities for young people. The team will also develop a recreational calendar for the community in conjunction with neighbouring COAG communities.
This is the Mulan community’s fourth SRA.
