Shared Responsibility Agreement
The Bayulu community believes that individuals should contribute to their community regardless of the type of income support they receive, and women in the community want their fair share of community resources.
The community has a number of priorities including: better health; improved school attendance and educational outcomes; a safer and cleaner community; better sport and recreation activities for young people; a facility for women; better community governance through training; and the maintenance of language, lore and culture.
Through its SRA, the community is working with the Australian Government to organise activities including breakfast and lunch programs and recreational and cultural activities that will involve everyone in the community. The community will supervise activities and the use of community resources.
The Australian Government is providing funds to purchase equipment and to renovate premises for women to provide day care for young children, a breakfast and lunch program and women’s programs.
All Bayulu community committee staff will be trained at a local TAFE.
