Shared Responsibility Agreement
The Indigenous community in the Playford area of north Adelaide want to improve their children’s health, wellbeing and development.
Their SRA will provide a sheltered outdoor area at the Kaurna Plains School, which has 150 Indigenous students. It will also help to re-establish a school dental service by securing a facility for this service kept on the school grounds.
The community has agreed to adopt a ‘no hat, no play’ policy for their children and follow a Sun Smart program, including use of hats and sunscreen. Families and children will attend dental hygiene workshops. The school newsletter will advise on clinic times. The community will make sure the dental facility is not vandalised.
The Australian Government is funding the installation of a shade sail at the school, and will assist in fencing the dental facility. The State Government will make the major contribution to the fencing, and through the Kaurna Plains Primary School will provide lighting and an alarm system for the facility.
