Shared Responsibility Agreement
The community in Hope Vale want to support their young people and encourage them to go to school, as well as stop anti-social behaviour.
Their SRA will build youth activities and school attendance through CAPE (Community Activities Program through Education). The CAPE Program will also train and mentor sport and recreation officers to run these activities, in the refurbished community hall.
The community through the community council will contribute to the hall’s refurbishment, ensure families participate on a Sport and Recreation Steering Committee, and encourage young people to take part in CAPE as a reward for regular school attendance. It will also survey the impact of CAPE, and encourage local people to become sport and recreation officers to help run the activities. All equipment will be kept in good repair.
The Australian and Queensland Governments are also contributing to the refurbishment of the hall, and will encourage agencies, companies and sporting organisations to support activities for young people in Hope Vale. The Australian Government is also purchasing equipment.
