Shared Responsibility Agreement
The Indigenous community in Bundaberg want to support their young people and reduce levels of anti-social behaviour. In particular, they want young people to help other young people through the encouragement of youth leadership.
Their SRA will provide a ‘harmony space’ that will bring young people together under the guidance of mentors their own age, put them in touch with services, and provide a place for training.
The community is contributing volunteers to take part in an outreach program and to support youth workers in the ‘harmony space’. The community will fill the youth coordinator and four trainee positions, and use its networks to identify and support individuals at risk. Elders will also provide mentoring, and individuals and families will make use of the services provided in the ‘harmony space’.
The Australian Government is funding the costs of setting up the centre, the youth coordinator position and the trainee positions.
