Shared Responsibility Agreement
The Indigenous community of Sarina are working with all levels of government to help create a future for young Indigenous people in the area.
The community have signed an SRA that brings together the Australian and Queensland Governments, the local council and local businesses to develop an Economic Participation Strategy for young people.
Sarina has a viable jobs market, but the local CDEP is the main source of employment for the Indigenous community. Many young people are now completing Years 10-12 and the community want them to find real jobs outside CDEP.
All partners will work together on the plan to create jobs, training and business opportunities. The plan will also look at how CDEP activities can be adapted to give people necessary skills and improve their chances of finding a job.
