Shared Responsibility Agreement

Banatjarl is a traditional area for women and children, used by the Katherine, Wugularr, Barunga and Manyallaluk communities. It provides a safe and secure area free from violence and substance abuse.

The SRA will build on these strengths by providing a one-week school holiday program at Banatjarl focused on health. The program will incorporate healthy lifestyle workshops and introduce role models and mentors.

The Australian Government is funding the event, while the participating communities will provide positive role models/mentors and encourage their young people to attend. A local organisation, the Jawoyn Association, will transport the young people to and from Banatjarl. Parents will volunteer to assist with activities, and all will respect the ‘no drug, no alcohol’ rule for the area.
