Shared Responsibility Agreement
The Tara community wants to make sure their children go to school and parents are more involved in their education.
The community has a health clinic, a women’s centre and a primary school that also supports two small communities (Angkweleyelengkwe and Thangkenharenge—see Barrow Creek SRA).
Under its SRA, the Tara community will provide a car service to take children from the smaller communities to and from school, assist in a general community clean up, plant and maintain local trees, and arrange sporting and recreational activities for the children.
Parents are already engaged in activities such as washing school uniforms, providing a healthy meal program, and constructing a bike track and playground. The parents of younger children will attend training to enhance the children’s play group activities.
Men in the community will cement the community workshop floor and the verandas of the women’s centre.
The Neutral Junction School will provide a venue for community and school activities and maintain records of students’ participation and attendance.
The Australian Government is providing funds for basic equipment and extra CDEP places.
