Housing milestone for Alice Springs town camps
The transformation of the Alice Springs town camps has achieved a second anniversary milestone with all new, rebuilt and refurbished housing to be completed as planned by Christmas this year.
Just two years after work commenced on the town camps under the Alice Springs Transformation Plan, the finishing touches are currently being applied to the last of the 85 new houses, and all 196 rebuilds and refurbishments have been completed.
Purina Anderson moved into one of the new homes in Hidden Valley Town Camp to be closer to her family and says the town camp is “a lovely and beautifully quiet area to live in”.
“The house I had before was pretty old, it wasn’t insulated and I used to get up freezing cold,” she says. “But now I wake up in a nice, warm house in the mornings and make my cuppa.”
