Carers Week 2012 launched – Be Care Aware!

Carers Week is an annual celebration which recognises the contributions that 2.6 million carers make to Australian society.

Carers Week is an initiative of Carers Australia and the network of carers associations across the nation, and is supported by the Australian Government.

This year, Carers Week is encouraging all Australians to ‘Be Care Aware’ by aligning with Australian Government’s Carer Awareness initiative.

The Carer Awareness initiative aims to increase recognition, support and appreciation for unpaid family carers.

Australia is a nation of carers, from all walks of life, who provide full or part-time support to their family members and friends who have a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness, an alcohol or other drug issue or are frail and aged.

Carers Week 2012 runs from Sunday 14 October until Saturday 20 October 2012.
